Step Four: Community Rally
(Spring, Summer, Fall) These follow the One Heart Day models.
The One Heart Day concept is designed to strengthen communities. It is a focused attempt to provide a vehicle for people to demonstrate compassion and kindness on a broad and collective basis. The effort is not limited to a particular demographic, socioeconomic, ideological, religious or geographic category, but is designed to impact everyone. The overriding idea is that demonstrating compassion is a deliberate action to someone who may or may not be deserving – and unselfish act that has the power to bring people together and profoundly change lives.
A Justice Revival One Heart Day will provide awareness, community resources, services ideas, kindness ideas, and a web service for registered users from over 1,000 churches and faith-based organizations to post community needs, strategies and a social networking outlet for those who are serving to post comments and stories of impact.
The goal of this campaign is to have student participate in acts of compassion along with adults so they see the impact of their actions upon their community and learn the true value of serving.
Community projects could include:
- Beautifying efforts in a neighborhood or community
- Revitalizing a school property
- A day of tutoring students
- Making over a home
- Building a playground
- Feeding those in need
- Distributing water bottles
Small group or individual projects could include:
- Reading to elementary children
- Giving blood
- Writing notes of encouragement to local public servants
- Writing notes of encouragement to juveniles in prison
- Writing notes of encouragement to local teachers
- Volunteering for a local charity
The areas of service are endless and there are many who would be blessed by these simple acts of encouragement.
