Dallas mayoral candidates are scheduled to appear at the first "Faith and Public Policy" Forum sponsored by the Greater Dallas Justice Revival.
The forum will focus on each candidate's faith, and how the faith community has a role in public policy. A panel of recognized authorities on hunger, homelessness, mental health, crime and economic development will question the candidates.
A key part of the forum will be focused on the current budget cuts the city and state face, which will affect the lower and middle class income brackets. "We know that churches will have to play a more active role in the upcoming budget crisis, which will create more hunger and mental health challenges." said Randy Skinner, executive director of the Greater Dallas Justice Revival.
The forum is slated to be held at Gospel Lighthouse Church, located at 5525 West Illinois Ave, Dallas, Texas 75211 (Near Dallas Baptist University in South Dallas). Click here for map.
The event is scheduled from 7pm to 9pm. Jeff Hinson, former CFO of Univision, one of the largest national networks, will be developing the candidate format. His current company, www.youplusmedia.com will be utilizing a media format, with a panel, to ask the candidate questions.
"This is another venue in which the church is being used to affect public policy" said Skinner, "We are already being used in a partnership with Dallas Housing Authority, Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, and Dallas Independent School District, to help direct public policy and promote biblical justice".
Greater Dallas Justice Revival has also asked the candidates a series of questions concerning the five areas, and will post those on its website in the coming weeks.
