One Heart™ Campaign
The goal of this campaign is to have people throughout the Greater Dallas Area become engaged acts of kindness and compassion. This effort will thrive when community groups like, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, schools, churches, youth sports, athletic teams and other civic groups work together to serve the greater community. In addition to the actual day(s) of kindness and compassion, there are several ongoing resources that will assist in building a lasting foundation that has the power to permeate the culture at every level.
These include: (1) One Heart Day Events, (2) One Heart Programs, (3) One Heart Culture,
(4) One Heart Camps
1) One Heart Day™ Events
One Heart Day(s)™ is designed to be implemented by individuals and groups of all types. The target of these groups will be seeking areas within their communities with the greatest need. One Heart Days empower communities by demonstrating that acts of kindness are unselfish acts that bring people together, thus strengthening the community.
It is a focused attempt to provide a vehicle for people to demonstrate compassion and kindness on a broad and collective basis. The effort is not limited to a particular demographic, socioeconomic, ideological, religious or geographic category, but is designed to impact everyone.
Some of our One Heart Day events include:
- Beautifying and landscaping school grounds
- Revitalizing a school property in disrepair
- A day of tutoring students
- Building a playground on school grounds
- School supplies, Athletic equipment, Art or Musical Support
- Distributing adequate food and clothing for students in need
The areas of service are endless and there are many who would be blessed by these simple acts of encouragement.

2) One Heart™ Programs - [top]
The challenges that inner city schools face cannot be overcome without proven and tested programs that can be used inside the walls of our school system. Parents, teachers, and students must have programs that dispel the high degree of hopelessness and despair they feel. One Heart programs give hope to those who feel they will never escape their circumstances.
The Justice Revival has partnered with nationally known Heart of a Champion character development program, currently used in over twenty states with remarkable success. The program endorsed by educators, is easy to implement, produces measurable results, and creates sustained change on campuses.
The campus culture begins to change as students learn the value of relating to their peers and teachers with integrity, respect, responsibility, leadership, teamwork, compassion, self-control, commitment and perseverance.
The program is a nationally sponsored program that can often be provided at no cost or very little cost to the local school. In addition to the lower school program, there is a high school program and a corporate program. This program is made available through the Heart of a Champion®Foundation. More about the Heart of a Champion® program can be found at www.HeartofaChampion.org.

3) One Heart™ Culture - [top]
The One Heart Campaign understands that it takes community wide involvement to bring lasting change to the challenges in our school system and homelessness population. When a community is exposed to a continual reminder of the challenges facing them, with an opportunity for action, research shows they will become more proactive in responding. This is a first step in influencing culture.
For example the yellow wristband that is easily identified with the Livestrong cancer initiative continues to be worn by millions of people worldwide who show their support every day. Another recent example is the pink ribbon loops that remind everyone about the need for a cure for breast cancer.
The One Heart™ movement also utilizes wearable symbol. The One Heart Ring™ is a tangible reminder that the wearer is committed to the continual demonstration kindness and compassion. The ring is inscribed with Greek letters that form the phrase that is translated to “You Are Not Your Own”. This is designed to be a reminder that your actions have impact on those around you that include family, friends and community. The ring is a powerful personal mental trigger that continually reminds to be a kind and compassionate person.

4) One Heart Camps - [top]
For the One Heart™ movement to take root and make a lasting impact, there must be ongoing groups that engage the greater community. Part of the One Heart team is All Pro Dad. Working within local schools this organization is emerging as a leader in connecting men to be role models who aid the PTA groups to impact the lives of children in schools across America.
Tony Dungy’s Red Zone program will also play a key role in the community outreach. This program is targeted to youth football leagues and offers valuable coaching tips and techniques and instructs players and coaches to play the game of football with passion and integrity. The ongoing initiative will include a coach’s tool – a unique curriculum vehicle that will be used to train coaches and to allow coaches to train their players.
One Heart™ Character Camps will be held during the summer of 2010 in key areas of Dallas with current and former players participating by instructing underserved youth following an existing model.
Within many segments of the community are deep-seated conflicts that build over time and never get resolved. This leads to continued strife the often creates conflict that tear apart communities. Department 318 has developed resources to assist people resolve conflict in a healthy and lasting way. Through their conflict resolution training, leaders in both the private and public sectors can learn skills that can be transferred to others creating conflict coaches who help people resolve conflicts before they escalate into damaging consequences.
